Since we are well into 2017 already I thought it was about time I shared the products I have been loving this year so far. Everything featured has become a regular staple in my routine and many are can’t-live-without items! I’ve broken it down into skincare, cosmetics and hair care and there are high-end and low-end items for every budget.
I’ve been obsessed with the frank body Original Coffee Scrub to slough away dead skin. Why I prefer it over other body exfoliants is it leaves your skin smooth, moisturised and supple as it hydrates with cold pressed sweet almond oil. Available in New Zealand from Mecca Maxima and meccabeauty.co.nz, RRP $19.95 for 200g. Read my full review here.
For the face, the exfoliant I have been loving is by Dermalogica, Daily Microfoliant. It’s gentle enough to use everyday and is a rice-based powder that activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliate the dead skin cells right off. I like to use this every couple of days in the morning to brighten up my skin. Available from dermalogica.co.nz, RRP $99 for 74g or $28 for 13g (great trial size).
Something I use morning and night and can absolutely not live without is the Aspect Dr Multi B Plus serum. It is the ultimate antioxidant serum that helps brighten, lighten, firm and heal. I used to use this regularly then stopped for about six months as I didn’t get around to replacing it for a while. When I did finally replace it, it has made me realise I will always need this! At least until I find something better. It’s a great alternative to a moisturiser in summer as well as it is lovely and hydrating. It is available from selected beauty therapists and online at skininstitute.co.nz, RRP $129.95 for 30ml.
I’m all about keeping my skin safe from the harsh New Zealand sun so each week I use the new Bondi Sands Mousse in Ultra-Dark, RRP $29.99 for 200ml. I literally cannot live without this stuff, one coat is enough and it is the only product that has managed to stop me spray tanning! Read my full review here.
Everyone knows that L’Oreal and Maybelline do the best mascaras so it’s no surprise the new L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Feline mascara in black is my new favourite. It’s a shiny, intense black formula that is buildable, creating a lot of volume and length. Available from selected pharmacies and Farmers, RRP $32.99.
The Too-Faced Born This Way foundation is something I picked up at Mecca Maxima in Christchurch. It is probably now sitting in my second favourite place (behind Nars All Day Luminous Weightless) which means it’s a very, very good foundation! It’s a medium-to-full coverage (you can quite easily get a full coverage) that emulates the skin, for an incredibly natural but flawless look. It leaves a radiant satin finish and is oil free but hydrating. I use the colour Warm Beige. Available from meccabeauty.co.nz, RRP $62.00.
A low maintenance, easy lip-gloss that I’ve been reaching for everyday is the Clarins Eclat Minute Lip Perfector in the colour Instant Light. It’s a gorgeous natural colour that conditions lips and leaves them hydrated. Available from Farmers, RRP $38.00.
My go to nail polish colour this summer has definitely been ‘Tribal Text-Styles’ from the Essie summer collection Viva Antigua. It’s an iridescent black with a hint of silver sparkle and makes any outfit that much cooler. Available from pharmacies nationwide and Farmers, RRP $22.99.
This next product has taken place in my collection as my new favourite bronzer, hands down! It’s the Maybelline 2-in-1 Bricks Bronzer in the colour Blondes. It is the most gorgeous subtle matte bronze, and it has a gorgeous shimmery pinky-bronze which is perfect for a little colour and warming up the face. I only tend to use the shimmery part for the evening but I use the matte bronzer everyday. Available from selected pharmacies and Farmers, RRP $19.99.
Kerastase L’Incroyable Blowdry lotion is a new ground breaking product that lets you style your hair over and over. The heat sensitive micro-wax technology allows your hair to set then reset styles with ease. It also has an incredible 96 hour frizz control! This has allowed me to leave my hair longer between washes, an amazing time saver. Available from selected hair salons nation wide, RRP $44.00 for 150ml.
The Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray is the best for achieving messy beach waves. You only need one or two sprays and it smells good enough to eat. It has honey, citrus and tangerine. Apply to dry hair and go! Available from selected hair salons nationwide, RRP $49.00 for 150ml.
Do let me know if you’ve tried any of these and what you think, or if you plan on trying anything! Hope you enjoy xx
