This past weekend I headed along to Ellerslie for The Auckland Racing Club’s Whips n Spurs party. Not one to miss an excuse to dress up, I went along in hopes of brushing up on my racing knowledge ahead of next week’s Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington. The food, drinks, company and racing were all great – however, I didn’t win on any of my bets so there is lots of room for improvement! On the bright side, I was absolutely delighted (and shocked) to take away the best dressed prize of Spring Filly! I had planned this post before the raceday, so this is the cherry on top that I get to share this with you.
There are lots of opportunities to glam up this racing season, including for the Melbourne Cup celebrations, so I thought I would share this particular outfit for you and I’ve also included some beautiful pieces that I have my eye on. Make sure to follow me on Instagram (here) to follow my journey to Flemington next Tuesday as I represent New Zealand in the Fashions on the Field (no pressure!!!).

This particular day I didn’t have an outfit planned (well, I did, but my dress didn’t turn up – blessing perhaps?), so this is testament to the fact you can put a beautiful outfit together from your normal wardrobe. Picking two white pieces and making it white-on-white instantly made it glam.
For this outfit I paired white linen pants from Cupcakes & Cashmere with a white Broderie Anglaise top from Atmos & Here (which was an absolute steal by the way).
I then glammed it up with gold accessories to make it raceday-worthy. My gold leather flower crown is from Forever New, gold shoes from Zara, bag by Gucci and earrings by Dior.
Lastly to finish off the outfit, I went for a bold red lip. This added a touch of glam and polished it all off. The L’Oreal lip paints are brilliant for racedays, they stay on and rarely need reapplying with all the champagne sipping! The colour I wore was 105, Red Fiction.
